Jussi Syren and the Groundbreakers (FIN)
The Groundbreakers is an internationally acclaimed bluegrass band that has toured across nine U.S. states and eight European countries. The band was founded in 1995.
Bluegrass and The Beatles are not as far apart as one might think. The vocal harmonies of the Liverpool lads could easily be lifted straight from the songbook of the Kentucky-born Everly Brothers. Many mid-60s Beatles songs, in particular, are structurally perfect for bluegrass arrangements. Even Ringo sang Buck Owens back in the day.
The band has recorded together with Grammy-winning fiddler Michael Cleveland, and The Groundbreakers’ albums have received glowing reviews from music publications worldwide. In the summer of 2025, they will release their 14th studio album.
In addition to mandolinist and vocalist J. Syren, the band features guitarist J.P. Putkonen, double bassist Tero Mäenpää, and for this special concert, banjo player Miihkali Jaatinen.
