Beats & Peaches (SWE)
A trio from Malmö, Sweden, who interpret Beatles songs in their own unique arrangements using vibraphone, mandolin, cigar box guitar, violin, flutes, and vocal harmonies. These arrangements are created just as often through improvisation as from sheet music written by one of the members, and they can sound like anything from a Bach sonata to a jazz or rock band. The group has toured across Sweden over the past three years, performing in everything from rock clubs and pubs to cultural associations and retirement homes (after all, many of those who voted the Beatles to the top of the charts in the 1960s are now over 80).
“We want it to be something familiar that people can sing along to, but also something new they haven’t heard before. What’s most important is that it grooves and that we’re having fun,” says the group.
Beats & Peaches consists of Agnes Berg, Suz Johansson, and Stefan Dernbrant. They all sing and play a wide range of instruments.
